Where to Find Your Vehicle Owner’s Manual If It’s Not In Your Glovebox
If you’ve ever opened your glovebox expecting to find your owner’s manual, only to discover that it’s missing, you’re not alone. Maybe your well-intentioned spouse went a little overboard when they were cleaning out the family van one day and wound up inadvertently throwing out the owner’s manual, or you’ve purchased a used van, SUV or truck that was sold without a manual.
No matter what’s happened to your original manual that came with your car, chances are good that at some point, you’ll want to access the information in this handy little book. Details like how to change a flat tire, what type of fluids your engine uses, and the towing capacity are all contained in your vehicle’s owner’s manual – not to mention must-know info like how to set the clock!
Here at Miller Auto & Marine, we’re often asked about where car owners can find replacement vehicle owner’s manuals when the original has either been lost or damaged.
Depending on which vehicle owner’s manual you need, you can either find a PDF version online, order a replacement through our parts department, or source out a used manual.
Most major automakers now post full copies of their owner’s manuals online through their respective owner’s portals, such as the GMC Owner Center, the Lincoln Owner Manuals website, and Nissan’s Manuals and Guides site. These websites let you view the complete online manual for the make, year and model of your choice on any computer, smartphone or tablet that has a PDF reader, making this a great way to go ‘paperless’! Of course, you can also print out any pages that you’d like hard copies of too.
Purchase a Replacement Manual
If you’d rather have a full, paper version of your owner’s manual, you can either contact your salesperson or the service department here at Miller Auto. We can order original quality replacement manuals for most late-model cars, trucks, vans and SUV’s from all the major automakers, including domestics and imports.
Search For a Used Vehicle Owner’s Manual
Of course, you can always do a search on eBay Motors when you’re looking for your vehicle owner’s manual, especially if you’re looking for an older one – you’d be amazed at what you can find! On the day we checked, we found auctions for an original 1938 Lincoln V12 Zephyr owner’s manual (known as a ‘reference book’); a mint-condition owner’s manual for a 1982 Buick Electra, and even one for a 1980 GMC General!
So remember, you don’t need to put up with not knowing how to set your favorite stations on your car radio, operate the jack, or open the hood – you just need to have access to your vehicle owner’s manual!
