Meet Our Miller Service Advisor: Katie Dockendorf

April 20th, 2017 by

At Miller Auto & Marine, we have fantastic staff members in all of our departments. They’re the people who show up to ensure our customers receive a 5-Star Experience every time they call or visit. For the most part, we’ve covered team members who are a little more behind the scenes: meet our auto technicians Pete Stormo, Joe Sundermann, and Tom Nordland. Today, we’re featuring a staff member who is front-and-center when you bring your vehicle in for service: Katie Dockendorf.

Meet Our Service Advisor: Katie Dockendorf

Meet our Miller Service Advisor: Katie DockendorfKatie has been our GM Service Advisor since July 2013, but that’s not the only department at Miller that’s been fortunate enough to work with Katie. In her 17-year career at Miller, she’s also worked in the Detail Department and the Body Shop. When she began her career, Katie was following the footsteps of her father. He worked as a Service Manager for 40 years before retiring in 2014.

As far as training for each of her positions, Katie’s learned everything on the job – through a mix of training and learning as she goes. During her ten years with the Detail Department, Katie enjoyed the process of taking a car that was “well loved” and making it look showroom new. When you see the before and after, it’s near impossible to not feel proud of the finished product.

A Typical Day as a Service Advisor

Katie’s responsibilities as the GM Service Advisor are definitely focused on customer service:

  • Checking customers in when they arrive for service
  • Going over their concerns
  • Sharing those concerns with the technicians
  • Working up an estimate after the problem is diagnosed
  • Recording services that are warrantied
  • Calling customers to discuss what services are needed
  • Reviewing services rendered with customers
  • Ensuring customers are happy with the service they’ve received

And Katie’s favorite part of the job? Helping people when they have a problem with their vehicle. Whether someone comes in on a Saturday morning or during the workweek, it feels good to help them with their problem and get them back on the road in a vehicle that’s safe to drive and operating as it should.

Katie’s Miller Service Team

Working at Miller, Katie’s a valuable member of the service team. When I asked Katie what she appreciates most about working at Miller Auto & Marine, she said, “The people I work with. We all spend a lot of time together, so I’m fortunate that they’re all such great people. We have a good rapport and a good team, and it makes it a lot of fun to be here.”

Outside Working Hours

When she’s not working, Katie spends time with her husband and two boys: Alex, 6 and Zachary, (almost) 4. They enjoy being together and playing outside as much as possible. They regularly take family vacations and go camping. Scenic State Park near Bigfork, MN is a favorite destination for family time and fishing.
